Hello!
Thank you for your visit.  Here are a few tidbits about me:

Sylvie Kantorovitz

[kantor-o-vitz]
children’s book author and illustrator
- I was born in Casablanca in 1960 and grew up in France.  Yes, I have an accent!
- I always loved to read and draw, often at the expense of homework.  Still do.
- I became a school teacher and read and drew for my students, of course.  Lots!
- In 1980, I went to New York for a year and studied at the Arts Students League.  Back in France, I studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.  I added painting to my series of bad habits and discovered -or re-discovered- the magic of children’s books.  I am still under the spell.  Maybe for life!
- I settled in the US in 1985 and now live in Albany, NY with my extraordinary daughter, Samantha who likes to draw even more than I do.  How is that possible?
- I will gladly answer to either Sylvie Wickstrom or Sylvie Kantorovitz (my birth name).
-Besides reading and drawing, I like music, theater, movies, picnics and dreaming.  Daydreaming is a special talent of mine.
- I am the oldest of 4 children and 2 others are also artists!  My sister Eva is a fabulous painter and my brother David is both a painter and a graphic book author.  My brother Albert, on another hand, is way into computers.

If you have (any) questions or comments, please e-mail me.  I would love to hear from you.
