Hello,
I am glad you came. Here are a few tidbits about me.
I grew up in France. Above anything else, I loved to draw
and to read, two activities that can easily get out of
hand and interfere with homework and family duties. They
did. They still do sometimes. I highly recommend both.

I became a school teacher and my students loved
it when I read and drew for them. Unfortunately many
other annoying activities seemed to get in the way.
Like math and geography…
I went to New York City for a year and studied at
the Art Students League, adding oil painting to my
series of vices. Back in France I studied at the
Ecole des Beaux Arts. It was during those years that
I discovered –or re-discovered- the magic world
of children’s books. I fell under the spell.
And no witch has been able to cure me yet! |
I settled in the United States in 1985 and now
live in Albany, NY with my daughter Samantha who
likes to draw even more than I ever did. How is that
possible? View
some of Sam's work here.
Up until recently, I was using the name Sylvie Wickstrom
which is my married name. As if life wasn’t complicated
enough, I decided to go back to my birth name Sylvie
Kantorovitz. I will gladly answer to either name.
I love my job. I work at home.
I draw. I paint. I write stories... Sometimes I visit schools
and libraries where I read and draw for the children. What
could be better?

Believe it or not, there are other things I like
to do. I like to read of course, listen to music,
go to the theater, watch movies, visit with friends
and… dream. I am especially good at daydreaming.
If you have questions to ask me or comments, I'd
love an e-mail and
will do my best to answer. |
