My presentations usually include the following:

-I read from one or two of my books.
-I talk about the role of the author, of the illustrator, about the different aspects of a book, about my work habits.
-The children give me an assignment that I execute for them.  As I draw, I point out some illustrating techniques or how I make a drawing exciting.  This is the children’s favorite part.
-I speak with the children in an informal Q&A moment.
My goal is to leave behind children excited about writing and drawing their own ideas.
Program details.

Length and number of presentations.
I do up to 4 presentations a day. Each presentation is about 50 mn long. It’s a good idea to plan about 10 mn between presentations.

Age group.
I usually talk with children in pre-k to 4th grade.

Material I need.
All I need is an easel with good quality unlined paper.

Program size and location.
I prefer groups of 30 to 60 children. I like to set up in the library with the children sitting on the floor as close to me as possible. It allows for a very interactive time.

School contact.
I do like to have a contact before as well as during the visit, in case I have some questions or need help with material and with finding my way around. I get lost easily!
Fee.
The fee varies according to the distance from my house and the number of presentations.  To give an idea, a full day in the Capital Area of New York State is $1000.

Every aspect of a visit can be discussed and I am always happy to adapt to the needs of the schools.  Do not hesitate to e-mail me with questions or to book a visit.

Preparing for the visit.
The children get the most out of the visit when they are prepared for it. I suggest reading some of my books as well as preparing a few questions or comments in advance.  The idea is to build up enthusiasm.

Book signing.
I am happy to sign as many books as you need.  It is an honor for me to be asked!  I usually include a small drawing in each book.

I work at home. I work alone. Visiting a school and getting to talk with the children about books, about my work, about their own ideas, is a wonderful
break in my schedule. school visits Sylvie Kantorovitz
